DEDO focuses on practical areas where technology can improve learning, livelihoods, community services and local innovation. Each objective can be supported through grants, equipment, expertise or implementation partnerships.

Digital Skills

Digital literacy and practical technology skills

Train youth, women, girls, learners with disabilities, educators, farmers and community members in practical ICT skills, safe digital participation and productive use of technology.

Education

Technology-enabled education

Support schools, vocational centres and community learning spaces with e-learning resources, e-libraries, digital content, teacher support and technology-enabled teaching and learning.

Artificial Intelligence

Responsible artificial intelligence for communities

Increase awareness, availability and responsible application of artificial intelligence in communities, schools, employment services and the health sector, with emphasis on safety, privacy, human oversight and locally relevant use cases.

ICT Access

Access to computers and ICT equipment

Mobilize and responsibly deploy computers, laptops, phones, tablets, projectors, connectivity equipment and other ICT tools to underserved communities, farmers, students and institutions to expand technology-based learning and opportunity.

Livelihoods

Employment, entrepreneurship and digital livelihoods

Equip young people and community groups with digital skills, online work readiness, entrepreneurship tools and market-access capabilities that can support employment and income generation.

Agriculture

Digital agriculture and market access

Support farmers and producer groups to use mobile tools, digital records, market information, online promotion and technology-based services that improve productivity, coordination and access to buyers.

Research

Technology-based research and local innovation

Support Tanzanian technology and research organizations, universities, innovators and community institutions to test, document and scale practical digital solutions that respond to local development challenges.

Partnerships

Partnerships for sustainable digital transformation

Collaborate with government, funders, civil society, research institutions and the private sector to develop affordable, inclusive and environmentally responsible technology solutions and digital public value.
